The municipality only reached the milestone of 3,000 inhabitants in 2022, meaning this year is the first time Beaufort has qualified for the proportional voting system.
This development has brought with it a number of changes, according to Christian Kieffer, who is serving as president of the election committee for the first time this year. A significant challenge was finding presidents for the committees, as well as assessors for the polling stations.
19 candidates stood in Beaufort this year, from two lists - however, just 1,523 of Beaufort’s 3,055 inhabitants are registered to vote.
