The 112 emergency call centre received multiple reports around 5.20am on Tuesday, with the fire visible from a distance throughout the night. The flames, reaching several metres in height, fortunately resulted in no casualties.

The head of communications at the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) described the incident as “the complete destruction of a storage annexe, likely an old bowling alley, situated behind the bar.”

The intensity of the flames and heat was heightened by the presence of coal stored within the annexe. To prevent the fire from spreading to the bar and nearby residences, a substantial number of firefighters were despatched to the scene. The approach involved attacking the flames from two sides.

By approximately 7.20am, the fire was under control, though efforts to extinguish lingering hotspots persisted into the morning to avert any potential recurrence. Route de Belval was temporarily closed to traffic on Tuesday morning to facilitate the intervention of the fire brigade.
