According to the police, most incidents involved inebriated individuals and were resolved on the spot.

However, in one case, an intoxicated person refused to calm down when confronted by officers. Shortly before 8pm, police were called to Boulevard de la Foire in Luxembourg City due to an intoxicated individual harassing motorists and passers-by. As the person remained uncooperative and posed a danger to themselves and others, they were detained overnight.

Additionally, the authorities received around 50 reports of weather-related accidents. “In the majority of cases, the damage was material,” stated the police in a press release.

Numerous officers were mobilised to close flooded roads and manage traffic. Alcohol tests were also conducted on Friday night in Luxembourg City and Hesperange. Nearly 90 motorists were checked, with three licences withdrawn. One driver, who caused an accident near Alzingen, hit a lamppost, leading to his vehicle bursting into flames.

The police confirmed that around 40 interventions were related to fights, arguments, or disturbances. Units were also deployed to respond to reports of burglaries in Hagen, Ettelbruck, and Esch-sur-Alzette.
