Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after two men carried out an armed robbery at a service station on Rue des Martyrs in Rumelange on Monday night.

The Grand Ducal police posted a statement on Facebook, describing how the two perpetrators threatened staff at the petrol station with a gun during the incident, which occurred around 9.45pm on Monday night. The men took money from the cash register and fled the scene on foot. No one was injured.

The two men were said to be around 1.80 metres tall and of slim build, both with dark skin, wearing dark clothing and balaclavas.

Police advised passing motorists to avoid picking up hitchhikers. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Esch-sur-Alzette police on 244 50 1000.
