Upon arrival, officers found that the individual was indeed carrying a weapon, in addition to being under the influence of alcohol.
The responding officers successfully disarmed the man. While the police report does not contain further details, our colleagues at RTL 5Minutes report that the weapon was found to be loaded with blanks, and that a report has been filed on the arrest. The weapon was seized.
Police further confirm that they were called out 115 times between 8pm on New Year’s Eve and 6am today, New Years Day, across the country.
Out of these, 70 were following calls on excessive noise, while the remaining 45 involved altercations or physical confrontations.
“In the majority of cases, the problem had been resolved and the people involved had calmed down,” according to a statement issued by the police.
