The British Ladies Club of Luxembourg (BLC) is a networking group for English-speaking women that has existed for over 50 years. When it formed, English wasn’t spoken as much across the Grand-Duchy yet, therefore British women needed an opportunity to connect. Now it’s a multi-national association that hold all kinds of events in all corners of the country.

Dawn Butler and Enid Isaac, two members of the BLC, stopped by the Today Radio studio to give a rundown of their annual bargain hunt on The Sam Steen Show.

Be sure to listen to the full interview for all the details and to meet some of the voices behind the event.

Dawn Butler and Enid Isaac head to the Today Radio studios to give the lowdown on the upcoming fundraiser/bargain hunt.

There are still a handful of spots available for this year’s event. You can register by sending an email to carboot@blc.lu. All proceeds from the registration fees (€25 for members, €30 for non-members) go to their charity pot. You can find more information on their website.

This year they are helping the Alzheimer Luxembourg association, who provide advice and support to people impacted by the disease.

The BLC asks of participants to only sell second hand items. Particularly the re-selling of food and drinks is not allowed. Refreshments on site will be provided by the Oasis Church, with all proceeds here, too, going to charity.

In true British fashion a bright red, double-decker bus is organised as a form of shuttle, driving back and forth from the Parking Glacis to the Parking Adenauer.

Car boot sales are quite popular in the UK. Private individuals come together typically on a field to sell used household and garden goods out of the back of their car boot (or car trunk for Americans).
