Prior to the merger with the neighbouring commune of Medernach, André Kirschten served as the mayor of the municipality of Ermsdorf. A successor has yet to be announced. The Commune of the Ernz Valley has a population of 2,670 inhabitants, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (STATEC).
