At the request of the public prosecutor’s office, police conducted two alcohol checks during the evening. The first took place from 8pm to 9pm on Rue du Golf in Senningerberg, followed by another between 9.45pm and 10.45pm on Rue de Remich and Rue Principale in Sandweiler.

A total of 244 motorists underwent testing, with all results returning negative. However, three fines were issued for various traffic violations.

Licence withdrawals for drink-driving

In a separate incident later in the evening, authorities responded to reports of a vehicle swerving along Route de Thionville in Hesperange. Upon locating the driver, a breathalyser test revealed a positive result, leading to an immediate withdrawal of their driving licence.

Another incident unfolded near Ettelbruck railway station, where a vehicle collided with a wall. Upon arrival, police encountered a visibly inebriated driver attempting to flee on foot. Subsequent refusal to undergo a breathalyser test resulted in an immediate licence confiscation.

Due to concerns for public safety, the individual was detained and found in possession of drug paraphernalia and a prohibited knife during a search. Additionally, a small quantity of hashish was discovered in the vehicle involved. The police issued a penalty notice.
