In what is becoming a recurring event, another car has caught fire on the A1 motorway. A similar incident occurred on Monday.
According to Cita, who is in charge of the motorway traffic networks, the car has stopped on the A1 towards Trier just after the Gasperich interchange.
The motorway is currently closed to traffic, with traffic at a standstill near the Gasperich interchange. The incident is also affecting the A6 and A3 motorways at the interchange.
Motorists on the A1 should form a security lane to allow emergency services to pass. Other motorists should avoid the area.
