At the sidelines of the Grand Egyptian Museum's inauguration, Prime Minister Luc Frieden joined his Benelux counterparts for talks with President el-Sisi on the crises in Sudan and the wider Middle East.
Grand Duke Henri over the first November weekend travelled to Egypt at the invitation of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to attend the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo. According to the State Ministry, the event drew numerous heads of state and government, ministers, and international dignitaries who paid tribute to the enduring contribution of Egyptian civilization.
Luxembourg's former state head was accompanied by Prime Minister Luc Frieden, who used the opportunity to meet with Belgium's Bart De Wever and the Netherlands' Dick Schoof, also in Egypt for the ceremony.
On the sidelines, the Benelux prime ministers spoke to el-Sisi at the presidential palace to discuss the crises in Sudan and the wider Middle East, with a focus on Egypt's role in efforts to secure a peace process for Gaza. Frieden also held separate talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam.
