In response to a parliamentary question from MP Jeff Engelen of the Alternative Democratic Reform Party (ADR), Minister of the Environment Serge Wilmes revealed significant delays in processing applications for the government's Klimabonus subsidy schemes.
The Environment Agency is currently processing around 13,700 outstanding files, most of them related to the installation of photovoltaic systems.
For residents still waiting for payments under the Klimabonus Wunnen housing subsidy scheme, the wait may continue for some time. According to Wilmes, applications submitted in paper form take an average of ten months to process.
By contrast, progress has been faster for Klimabonus Mobilitéit subsidies, where only 520 applications remain to be handled. Wilmes explained that one reason for the delays in housing subsidy payments is that many files were submitted incomplete.
The government is preparing to implement a pre-financing system for photovoltaic installations, which would allow subsidies to be deducted directly from invoices, with businesses then reimbursed swiftly by the state. This simplified procedure is still under development and is also expected to apply to the Klimabonus Mobilitéit programme.
