Luxembourg's annual inflation rose to 2.8% in August, up from 2.6% in July, according to a flash estimate from Eurostat, a figure well above the European average, which edged up to 2.1% from 2.0% the previous month.
According to the latest figures released by Eurostat, the annual inflation rate for Luxembourg, measured using the harmonised indices of consumer prices (HICP), continues to show a steady climb since spring.
Annual inflation for the Grand Duchy stood at 1.5% in March and has almost doubled to 2.8% in August – a rise of 46.43%.

One of the highest risers in the report was for unprocessed food, which has risen from an annual inflation rate of 1.1% in August 2024 to 5.5% in August 2025.
The rises place Luxembourg among countries experiencing faster price growth, with a rate higher than Germany’s 2.1% and France's 0.8%. Estonia recorded the steepest increase at 6.2%, while Cyprus saw prices fall slightly by 0.1%.
Across the Euro area, food, alcohol, and tobacco are expected to have driven inflation most strongly in August, with annual growth of 3.2%. Services followed at 3.1%. Non-energy industrial goods held steady at 0.8%. Energy remained in negative territory, though the decline eased to -1.9% compared with -2.4% in July.

Eurostat's flash estimates provide an early indication of consumer price trends across the Eurozone.
Final figures for August, including detailed breakdowns for each member state, will be released on 17 September.
