Over the last ten years, the number of jobs in the Grand Duchy's finance sector has risen from 54,000 to 73,000.

These figures were cited by the government on Thursday in response to a parliamentary question submitted by CSV MPs Laurent Mosar and Maurice Bauer.

A new report published by the Luxembourg for Finance agency this month highlighted the increase in finance jobs over the past decade. Ministers Stéphanie Obertin and Gilles Roth, who co-authored the parliamentary response, said the increase was even more remarkable given the context of the international situation, beset by crises and uncertainty.

Banking employs the largest number of people in the sector, with around 36% of the workforce in 2024. Non-Luxembourgers make up the majority of employees in the finance sector, corresponding to 82% as of last year.
