Temperatures are climbing across the Greater Region, with some days set to see well over 30°C.

A warm spell returns to Luxembourg

Luxembourg is avoiding an official heatwave alert, but the mercury is still rising. Saturday will bring highs of around 31°C in the afternoon. Sunday and Monday will be slightly cooler at 25°C to 28°C, before another peak midweek, when MétéoLux expects temperatures of up to 32°C on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Half of France on weather alert

An intense summer heatwave began on Friday and is spreading north. By Saturday, 28 departments in southern France were under an orange heatwave alert, with local highs of up to 41°C.

In Lorraine, no alert has been issued, but the sunshine will drive temperatures up: 31°C in Metz on Saturday, 32°C in Nancy, and 33°C in the Vosges. Sunday will bring 27°C to 29°C, followed by 29°C to 31°C on Monday. From Tuesday, temperatures are forecast to reach around 34°C to 35°C, with unusually warm nights expected to remain above 20°C.

Belgium: hot everywhere, even on the coast

Belgium’s Royal Meteorological Institute has not issued a heat alert, but forecasts “dry, generally sunny and warm to very warm” weather. On Saturday, highs will range from 21°C on the coast to around 25°C in the centre and up to 28°C in Belgian Lorraine.
Temperatures will stay seasonal until Monday, then spike on Tuesday and Wednesday. In the Province of Luxembourg, temparatures could hit 32°C, while coastal areas should still see 30°C on Tuesday and 27°C on Wednesday.
