French homeware chain Maisons du Monde will permanently close its Pommerloch store on 9 August, leaving only one location in Luxembourg, despite earlier assurances that no closures were planned in the country.

The affected store is located in the Pommerloch retail zone, near the DIY shop.

The news has been confirmed by signs posted on the shop windows, announcing "Hurry, everything must go" and "Your store is closing, Saturday 9 August 2025".

Staff at the location confirmed to RTL that this is not a temporary closure for stocktaking or renovation, but a permanent shutdown.

Following this closure, only the branch at the Belle Étoile shopping centre will remain open in Luxembourg, although for how long is unclear. Another Maisons du Monde store is located just across the border in Sterpenich, Belgium.

Plans to close or relocate announced in March 2024

Back in March 2024, the French retailer had announced plans to close or relocate between 40 and 50 stores before 2026. At the time, a company spokesperson told Paperjam that no closures were planned in Luxembourg. Since then, however, the brand’s store on Avenue de la Gare in Luxembourg City has already shut down.
