Tensions keep mounting within the administration of the municipality of Contern over the reinstatement of a former head of department.

Only on 1 July, the Court of Appeal ordered the reinstatement of an unlawfully dismissed employee – which the administration is now refusing to oblige to. Instead, the employee was sent into extraordinary leave.

The Contern municipality staff expressed its stance on Friday afternoon, claiming that it would be impossible for most of them to work for their former head of department. The thought of the concerned employee coming back spiked restlessness and anxiety within the administrative team, and would destroy positive developments they had been working on, as stated in the letter signed by about 20 employees.
