The Luxembourg Football Federation announced on Wednesday they would not be renewing coach Luc Holtz's contract once it expires at the end of the year.
On Thursday morning, the FLF shared a letter sent by Holtz to the federation's board of directors in response to the news regarding his departure from the role on 31 December 2025.
The coach thanks the football federation, his players, staff, and fans for their support over his 15-year tenure, describing it as an "honour and a joy".
He also expressed disappointment over recent media coverage, lamenting that the "sports press has focused primarily on topics away from the sport itself, including untruths and criticisms" where the team's performance no longer was the sole focus
Holtz vows to stay fully committed to the national team – "with the same energy, motivation, and enthusiasm as always" – until the end of his contract, at which point it will be "time to say goodbye".
