As Differdange prepares to renovate its ageing town hall, the municipality has launched an online charity sale offering decades worth of furnishings at bargain prices.
The municipality of Differdange has launched an innovative initiative to clear its historic town hall ahead of planned renovations, offering the building's furnishings and fixtures for public purchase with all proceeds benefiting local charities.
After decades of service, the ageing administrative building requires expansion, leaving municipal officials with the challenge of disposing of surplus items. Rather than discard usable materials, the commune will sell everything from office furniture to lighting fixtures through its website.
"These are items that can have second lives elsewhere," explained Tom Ulveling, a member of Differdange's municipal executive board ("Schäfferot"). The inventory includes tables, heaters, windows, and other furnishings available at reduced prices.
Purchasers can schedule appointments with municipal staff for item removal, with workers available to assist in disassembly.
