Today Radio has officially been selected as one of twelve broadcasters granted a DAB+ operator license in Luxembourg, marking a major milestone in its development after three years of digital-only operation.

"After three years operating as a digital station we're delighted and very excited to be able to bring Today Radio to a wider audience with the launch of DAB+", said Sam Steen, Head of Programming at Today Radio. "As the only fully English language radio station in Luxembourg, we look forward to engaging with the whole community of those living in the Grand Duchy – and doing it to a soundtrack of great music, all day, every day."

Stephen Lowe, Head of Music at Today Radio, described the announcement as "incredibly exciting news". He emphasised the station's commitment to offering "truly innovative and progressive content 24 hours a day, seven days a week".

Since its launch in March 2022, the online round-the-clock radio brings together music, news, local events, and much more about life in the Grand Duchy.

"Our aim is to provide an alternative to the mainstream", Stephen adds. "A place where you can experience new sounds, new shows, new podcasts, but all wrapped in the familiar feeling our hosts and programmes have been proud to produce. Music, culture, news, entertainment, sport, community, politics, and discussion. Today Radio is the station you've been waiting for. All we can say for now is, watch this space."

Luxembourg radio goes digital

The announcement follows a call for applications launched by the Ministry of State earlier this year, as Luxembourg accelerates its shift toward digital radio. The DAB+ standard – which provides enhanced audio quality, more efficient use of radio spectrum, and greater programme diversity compared to traditional FM – is central to the country's strategy for future-proofing its broadcast infrastructure.

After a review process supported by the Audiovisual Media Authority (ALIA), the government confirmed a list of 12 approved operators. Today Radio, known as Luxembourg's only fully English-language station, is among those awarded a license.

Other selected DAB+ broadcasters include RTL Radio Luxembourg and Eldoradio.
