After a spell of mild weather, Luxembourg is bracing for rain and snow on Thursday, with Meteolux forecasting a chilly, albeit brief, return to winter conditions.
After days of sunshine and mild temperatures, Luxembourg is set for a shift in weather as rain and snow are forecast for Thursday, according to the national weather service Meteolux.
While spring may be on the horizon, winter is still firmly in place, with temperatures expected to drop to -2°C on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings. Sunshine is predicted to return from Friday onwards, but Thursday will be a different story.
Meteolux forecasts a cloudy day on Thursday, with light rainfall expected throughout the day, particularly in the south of the country. The French border regions will also be under a "snow-ice" alert from 6am to 3pm.

The precipitation is expected to take on a "winter feel", with the rain-snow limit hovering between 300 and 400m. This means snow is most likely to form and settle in Luxembourg's "highland" areas, potentially affecting road conditions.
However, widespread snowfall is unlikely to cause significant disruption, as temperatures are expected to rise to 6°C in the afternoon, melting any snow that accumulates in the morning. Drivers are advised to exercise caution, especially near the border, where Météo France has forecast snow at lower altitudes from Morvan to Lorraine.
