Together with Florian Gallenberger, the Luxembourgish actress was appointed president of the prestigious German Film Academy on Sunday.
Luxembourg star Vicky Krieps and German director Florian Gallenberger have been appointed presidents to the Film Academy of Baden-Württemberg in Germany. The pair were elected to the executive committee during the academy's general assembly this weekend in Berlin. Krieps thus succeeds Alexandra Maria Lara, who did not run for a second term.
Both Krieps and Gallenberger are excited about their new roles. “I love cinema and I live for cinema. It is therefore a great pleasure and an honor for me to represent German cinema with Florian as president of the German Film Academy,” said Krieps on the institution's website.
Florian Gallenberger, re-elected president, expressed his commitment to promoting German cinema. “We will fight for German cinema and its visibility and, above all, we will represent the values that the German Film Academy stands for – namely cosmopolitanism, artistic excellence, diversity, respect, and solidarity – to the outside world and actively promote them in society. This is of paramount importance in the current social climate,” he emphasised.
Gallenberger is also known for his work on Colonia (2015), co-produced by Luxembourg's Iris Productions.
Krieps' latest film titled Hot Milk recently celebrated its world premiere at the Berlinale.
