A woman tragically died in Huldange on Saturday evening after being struck by a car, with emergency responders' delayed arrival caused by a mix-up over the location.

A woman tragically died after being struck by a car in Huldange on Saturday evening, despite the efforts of emergency responders. The response, however, was delayed when the Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) initially headed to the wrong location.

The accident was first reported by CGDIS in a Sunday press release, stating it had occurred in Pommerlach. However, police later clarified that the woman succumbed to her injuries in hospital and that the actual accident took place in Huldange.

RTL sources revealed that the first CGDIS team was sent to Pommerlach, not Huldange as initially reported. This error was confirmed by a CGDIS spokesperson on Tuesday, and an internal investigation is now underway to determine how the mistake occurred.

The emergency call was made at 6.06pm on Saturday, but the first team arrived at a large shopping centre in Pommerlach only to find no accident. A second CGDIS team was dispatched to the correct location, near the other Knauff shopping centre, taking 27 minutes from the initial call to reach the scene.

The impact of the delay on the woman’s chances of survival is now under review. CGDIS officials have stated that they will revisit the audio recordings of the call to better understand the timeline. A full review, led by the Service Gestion et Qualité (Quality Management Service), may take some time to conclude.

A key question remains: Could the woman have survived if the rescue teams had arrived sooner?
