A heated altercation between a Walferdange coach and a Soleuvre player's father has sparked controversy, with Soleuvre accusing the coach of assaulting a young player during an U14 match.

Soleuvre basketball club has issued a more detailed statement regarding an incident that occurred during an U14 home match against Walferdange, which escalated into a post-game altercation between the Walferdange coach and the father of a Soleuvre player.

On Tuesday, BBC Walferdange shared its perspective on the incident via Facebook. In its Wednesday statement, Soleuvre accused the Walferdange coach of assaulting one of its players during the match. The club claims to have multiple written testimonies from witnesses supporting this allegation. The young player reportedly suffers from "post-attack trauma," certified by a doctor, which has left him unable to attend school. "These highly deplorable and unacceptable actions triggered the equally deplorable and unacceptable reaction of the player's father," BBC AS Soleuvre stated in its press release.

The Luxembourg Basketball Federation (FLBB) addressed the incident during a board meeting on Tuesday evening. In an official statement released on Wednesday, the FLBB strongly condemned all forms of violence, emphasising that such behaviour has no place in basketball or any other sport. The case will now be reviewed by the Federation's legal bodies.
