Established 20 years ago through the merging of four institutes, Uni.lu has since secured a prominent position in both Luxembourgish and international communities.

Two decades ago, Luxembourg got its own university. Today, 6,000 people study there, there are 1,000 doctoral students and 2,400 employees, including 300 professors. The still relatively young Uni.lu is among the 250 best in the world and is ranked 25th among the best young universities.

A total of 130 nationalities work or study there. 40 to 50 percent of the students are Luxembourgers, and many are from neighboring countries. A lot of students also come from Italy and India.

The university aims to continue growing in the field of health. It currently offers seven bachelor's degrees for nursing professionals, and three specializations in medicine: general medicine, oncology, and neurology. By offering strong medical programs in the country, the university wants to contribute to solving problems such as the lack of doctors.

In this special programme, RTL's Caroline Mart takes a tour of the Belval Campus with the Rector of the University, Jens Kreisel. He explains what defines the university and where it aims to go in the future. While the interview is in Luxembourgish, it's subtitled in English.
