Representatives of the National Health Fund (CNS) and the Confederation of Healthcare Professions unveiled a streamlined process for accessing hearing aids, set to take effect on 1 January 2025, reduce wait times, and increase reimbursements.
A new initiative to simplify the acquisition of hearing aids was presented on Monday evening by representatives of the National Health Fund (CNS) and the Confederation of Healthcare Professions during a session of the Chamber of Trades.
The revision process of the 1968 procedures was first launched in 2015, with a group of specialists tasked to modernise the complicated and time-consuming reimbursement applications. Under the new system, individuals will be able to access hearing aids more quickly, with reimbursement capped at €1,900 for adults and €2,800 for children, and poised to be completed within three months.
Guy Lejeune, President of the Confederation of Healthcare Professions, credited Health Minister Martine Deprez for her significant support in advancing the project.
The updated procedure will come into effect on 1 January 2025 and the number of people able to access hearing aids is expected to rise. Those who already own a device may also benefit from the changes. Patients are advised to consult an audioprosthetist to determine their eligibility for the new procedure and the reimbursement amount they may receive.
