A recent prevention campaign revealed numerous vehicles with incorrectly adjusted lights as well as over 400 vehicles that were being driven in "unsafe conditions" due to inadequate tyres.
For one month, the Luxembourg Motoring Association (ACL) participated in a "Lights and tyres" prevention campaign. The campaign resulted in the detection of a large number of vehicles on the road with faulty lights.
More than one in five vehicles had incorrectly adjusted lights, which were brought up to standard with the help of ACL and the Luxembourg Road Safety Association.
The latter ran a major prevention campaign between 14 October and 15 November. A total of 5,300 vehicles were inspected, of which 1,138 needed their low beam headlights adjusted. ACL staff were also able to correct 164 bulb defects.
However, the ACL expressed concern about the number of vehicles with inadequate tyres: 413 vehicles were being driven in unsafe conditions. Tyres "are the only point of contact between the vehicle and the road. For the safety of drivers and passengers, it is therefore essential that they are in good condition," the ACL pointed out.
