The police encountered a number of intoxicated drivers on the road on Friday night.

During a speed check on the N10 between Machtum and Ahn shortly before 6pm, a driver was driving at 138km/h on a road with a speed limit of 90km/h, prompting the police to intervene. The driver was arrested and following a positive breathalyser test, the driver's licence was withdrawn. The driver was also unable to produce a valid car roadworthiness certificate.

On Friday evening, a police patrol travelling on the A4 towards Esch-sur-Alzette noticed a vehicle swerving on the road. When asked to slow down, the driver did not comply  and had to be eventually stopped by the police. The driver was subsequently tested for alcohol, which came back as positive. His driving licence was immediately withdrawn.

Another driver was stopped at around 3am on Saturday morning after driving in the opposite direction at the An der Schmelz roundabout in Esch-Belval. The driver tested positive for alcohol and had his driving licence revoked.

At 5.40am, police officers were alerted by a driver in the Rue de la Tour Jacob in Luxembourg City whose vehicle was swerving sharply, partially into the opposite lane. When police officers tried to stop the driver, he initially appeared to follow the police's instructions, before making a U-turn in the middle of the road and fleeing. Eventually, the driver was arrested at Place Emile Mousel and tested positive for alcohol. His licence was also immediately withdrawn.

A few moments later, a driver who appeared to be intoxicated was stopped at Rives de Clausen in Luxembourg City. The man was largely uncooperative and insulted the police officers throughout the incident. He tested positive for alcohol and his driving licence was also revoked.
