After the death of five dogs in a dog boarding kennel in Luxembourg, ADR MPs Alexandra Schoos and Jeff Engelen have questioned the Minister on Agriculture Martine Hansen on the protection of animals in Luxembourg.
Following the deaths of five dogs at a dog boarding kennel in southern Luxembourg in August, four charges have been brought.
The Luxembourg Veterinary and Food Administration (ALVA) is working closely with the public prosecutor's office in their investigations to determine the exact circumstances in which the animals have died.
At the start of the investigation, four of the five deceased dogs had already been cremated. An autopsy was conducted on the fifth dog, but the results have not been disclosed yet.
The Minister for Agriculture, Martine Hansen, has once again confirmed that the boarding kennel in question did not have a licence to operate. ALVA noted that the administration was not even aware that a boarding kennel was registered at this address.
Additionally, Minister Hansen guaranteed that ALVA keeps an eye on boarding kennels that don't entirely abide by rules governing animal care. There have been 100 documented violations of animal protection laws in only the last three years. Hansen advises all pet owners to verify the boarding kennel facility beforehand and ask the kennel to show their permits. Any anomalies should be reported to help@deier.lu.
