On Monday morning, police reported a number of incidents in which thieves stole valuable items from unlocked cars around Luxembourg.

According to the police report, perpetrators will systematically check car doors to see if the vehicle is locked, and frequently end up being successful.

Motorists are reminded to always lock their vehicle even if they only intend to leave it for a short period of time, such as returning shopping trolleys.

Police recommend against leaving valuable items in cars, and say windows should always be closed when the car is vacated.

In addition to stealing valuables and cash, thieves are often known to take house or garage keys, especially from vehicles parked outside residences. People are therefore advised to never leave keys unmonitored in their cars.
