The latest campaign from the Ministry of Education seeks to encourage families to spend more time together away from screens and smartphones.
Launched on Monday, the "healthy screen-life balance campaign" recommends that screens should be avoided for young children under the age of three, children under the age of 12 should not own their own smartphone, and should stay off social media until they are 15 or older.
At Monday's press briefing, education minister Claude Meisch said young people no longer have time to be bored, but that time away from screens was important for everyone's cognitive, social and physical development. Time on smartphones often came at the expense of family moments together, he added.
