130 firefighters and volunteers were committed to ensuring the Pope's safety and the safety of all participants and spectators on Thursday.

The Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) reports that there were nine interventions in total with nine people slightly injured, of which two were admitted to hospital.

No further details on the incidents were provided.

A high number of paramedics and firefighters were on call at the 112 headquarters, and the Centre de Gestion des Operations was activated.

Police presence was reinforced in Luxembourg City,  as well as an instatement of a special plan of action surrounding the event.
