Although the Pope's route through Luxembourg's capital was meticulously planned, the Pontiff opted to make an emergency espresso stop at a city centre café on Thursday,
During the tour of Luxembourg City, Pope Francis made an unplanned stop at Grupetto café on Rue Notre Dame, where he proceeded to enjoy a cup of espresso while mingling with members of the public.
Accompanied by his security detail, the Pope ordered a coffee and a glass of water, much to the café's staff's surprise. André Ribeiro, an employee at the establishment, told RTL of his shock when the pontiff entered for the unexpected visit.
In an unusual step for such a high-security visit, the café's customers were permitted to stay seated and observe the spectacle comfortably from their tables.
Pope Francis must have been satisfied with the service provided by the café, as the owner said the pontiff left a generous tip, not to mention the priceless "blessed" advertisement for the establishment!
