On Tuesday, dozens of Luxair passengers were stranded in Montenegro due to severe thunderstorms ravaging the country. A special flight was later arranged on Wednesday to safely bring the remaining passengers back to Luxembourg.

Severe weather conditions in Montenegro disrupted the travel plans of Luxembourgish passengers this week. On Tuesday, a Luxair flight from Findel to Tivat was rerouted to Podgorica due to "extreme conditions", which caused flooding and led to the closure of Tivat Airport.

In a press statement, Luxair explained how they tried to mitigate any inconveniences by organising a bus transfer from Tivat to Podgorica. “Unfortunately, the same weather conditions also affected the only possible route to the airport” announces the company. “Two out of the four planned busses, with a total of 83 passengers, could not leave the airport in Tivat.”

To make matters even worse, the conditions also prevented Luxair to organise a flight from Podgorica to Tivat in order for Luxembourg to pick up the remaining 83 passengers.

All of the passengers stuck in Tivat were finally rescued by a “special flight” this Wednesday, ensuring their safe return to Luxembourg.
