The team from LLO.lu, the free app launched by the government to learn Luxembourgish, has admitted to a recent leak of user data.

Bad news for users of the LLO.lu app: in an email sent out on Tuesday 27 August, the team of "Léier Lëtzebuergesch Online" has confirmed that they have been the victim of a cyberattack. The email message states: "Our investigation shows that your email address may have been involved in this [cyber] attack."

Although e-mail addresses are the only personal data involved, it is recommended that anyone with an LLO.lu account change their password for the app.

“We take these kinds of incidents very seriously and we have already put measures in place to insure the security of our database and of the different tools we use. The protection of data is more reinforced now than ever before”, reassures LLO.lu.

Launched in September 2022, the app developed for government purposes by the National Institute of Languages offers the opportunity to learn Luxembourgish for free. Courses are offered up until level B1.
