The Luxembourg government has recently invested €3.3 million to renew the police force's vehicle fleet, with an expenditure of nearly €60,000 per vehicle.

This update was disclosed by Minister for Home Affairs Léon Gloden in response to a parliamentary question.

The most recent order for police vehicles, initiated under the former government led by Xavier Bettel, totalled €3,333,280.90 for 58 vehicles, averaging approximately €57,470 per unit. These vehicles, which were delivered only recently, do not include any electric models.

Police vehicles in Luxembourg are heavily utilised, collectively covering between 11 and 12 million kilometres annually, according to a statement from the Chamber of Deputies in April.

Minister Gloden also mentioned that a new order for additional vehicles is currently in the tendering process. He stressed the government's commitment to providing the police with the necessary infrastructure and equipment to perform their duties under optimal conditions. The police budget for 2024 is set at €438 million.
