A new petition has exceeded Parliament's required threshold of 4,500 signatures, advocating for increased workplace flexibility for women suffering from Endometriosis. It also calls for categorising the condition as a chronic illness.
This chronic and currently incurable gynecological condition significantly impacts daily life and work.
Endometriosis is a chronic condition where tissue similar to the lining inside the uterus grows in other parts, which can cause pain, inflammation and sometimes infertility. Treatments are available, and surgery is frequent, but there is no cure.
The petition calls for stronger labour laws to better support affected women, and for women to be recognised as chronically ill.
As of now, approximately 4,600 people have signed the petition, which will remain open for signatures for another five days.
