An illegal rave near Upper Sûre Lake, which began on Saturday night, drew the ire of local residents and was fully dispersed by police on Sunday afternoon. The event took place at Bauschelter Bierg, near Bavigne, and continued through the night.

Police began dispersing the remaining crowd at around 2pm on Sunday, with the site being cleared by 4pm.

According to a police spokesperson, approximately 80 people were still present when officers intervened, but the dispersion proceeded peacefully.

The incident first came to the attention of authorities on Saturday night, when residents called in multiple noise complaints. Due to safety concerns, police initially refrained from intervening. On Sunday morning, they hoped the crowd would disperse on its own. However, when this did not happen, police decided to take action.

Marco Koeune, mayor of the municipality of Lac de la Haute-Sûre, confirmed that no permit had been issued for the event and condemned the organisation of the illegal rave.

The Luxembourg police also confirmed receiving reports about the gathering from Belgian authorities. The event attracted around 300 people, primarily from Belgium and the Netherlands.

A video sent to RTL at around 3.30am on Sunday captured the loud bass sounds from the rave, recorded in Liefrange, several kilometres away.
