10th place and a 4:11.28 minutes result were not enough for the Luxembourgish athlete to stand out in the repêchage.

On Wednesday afternoon during the repêchage, Vera Hoffmann was not able to secure one of the last places in the 1500 metre semi-final.

After the Luxembourgish runner was ranked in 12th place during the first run-through, she was given a second chance in the repêchage. At that stage, a top-three ranking would have been needed to receive a pass to the semi-finals.

The competition in the full Stade de France started off at an average pace. Vera Hoffman stayed in the back of the group which stuck together for the first two laps. Slowly but surely the runners in front sped up and pulled the group apart. It quickly became obvious that it would be a difficult task to secure a ranking among the top three.

In the end, Sintayehu Vissa from Italy, with a 4:06.71 minutes mark, Revee Walcott-Nolan from the UK, at 4:06.73, and Agueda Marques from Spain, with a 4:07.05 minutes pace qualified for the semi-final.

Vera Hoffman came in tenth with a time of 4:11.28.
