On Wednesday morning, a significant police operation took place in the Mamer/Capellen area.

The police first reported suspicious activity in the vicinity and issued a public warning advising against picking up anyone in the area. A suspect was reportedly on the run following a burglary. A few hours later, police managed to arrest the suspect.

According to police, they received a report at around 11.25am of an individual attempting to break into a vehicle on Rue des Roses in Mamer. The suspect was located but fled in a car.

Officers attempted to stop the getaway vehicle, but the suspect drove directly toward them. In response, police fired two shots at the vehicle, according to the police press office. The suspect then abandoned the car and fled on foot.

The General Police Inspectorate (IGP) was also on-site due to the use of a service weapon. An RTL reporter at the scene noted that a large security perimeter was established, and a significant number of police officers were deployed in Mamer and the surrounding areas.

According to the police, no one was injured over the course of this operation.
