A serious bus accident on Friday resulted in 14 injuries on the N15 in Pommerloch, prompting authorities to initiate an investigation.

on Wednesday, the public prosecutor's office confirmed to our colleagues from RTL.lu that an investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact circumstances of the incident.

While initial examinations have been conducted, ongoing analyses are being carried out, with an appointed expert overseeing the case. No individuals have been placed in custody at this time, as specified by the prosecutor's office.

What happened?

The accident occurred when a bus crossed a roundabout, collided with a traffic island, and came to a stop at a considerable distance after hitting a stationary lorry.

According to Alain Weisgerber from the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS), emergency services received notification of the bus-lorry collision just before 11am. CGDIS swiftly mobilised approximately 60 firefighters, 15 vehicles, and three rescue helicopters to the scene.

In total, 14 people sustained injuries, two of whom were seriously injured.
