Luxembourg Prime Minister Luc Frieden and several other world leaders have condemned the assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump, expressing shock and calling for an end to political violence.

On Sunday morning, Luxembourg Prime Minister Luc Frieden sharply condemned the assassination attempt against former US President Donald Trump on his social media. As shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, PM Frieden wrote in English that there is "absolutely no place for political violence in our democracies" and that he strongly condemns the shooting. Frieden further wrote that his thoughts are with the former US President and all the victims.

World leaders express shock, wish Trump swift recovery

US President Joe Biden said he was grateful that Donald Trump is safe and called for Americans to unite as one nation to condemn such violence. It has been confirmed that President Biden has also spoken with Trump on the phone.

On Saturday evening local time, President Biden also issued a televised statement from his home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, stating that there is "no place in America" for such "sick" acts of violence. Former US President Barack Obama echoed this message in a statement on his social media, emphasising that there is "absolutely no place for political violence" in democracy.

In addition to strongly deploring the violence, Vice President Kamala Harris warned against any further escalation of political violence.

The United Nations also condemned the assassination attempt, with a spokesperson for UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres wishing Tump a swift recovery.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen shared that she is "deeply shocked" by the incident and also wishes the former US president a "speedy recovery".

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was "appalled" by the shooting and wished Donald Trump a good recovery.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau shared his shock and strongly emphasised that political violence is never acceptable.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanjahu and his wife wrote that they are "shocked" and wished for Donald Trump's safety and speedy recovery.
