This new heat sensation map shows all of Luxembourg's coolest and most temperate areas, should a heatwave come knocking once more...

Admittedly summer 2024 has not provided us with many uncomfortably hot days thus far, but who knows what the future will bring? If temperatures should reach over 30°C again, this handy new tool shows where you could go to cool down in the Grand Duchy.

The Heat Sensation map  displays Luxembourg's coolest places - no, not the most Instagrammable or hip places, but areas where you can feel more comfortable in hot weather. People experience heat differently, as air humidity or sweat on the skin can help to cool down in soaring temperatures, but some may still find it difficult during heatwaves.

The new Heat Sensation map therefore allows users to set the temperature to a period they are most comfortable with, going from a pleasant climate to the absolute maximum they can tolerate. The map will change colour from green (comfortable), yellow (acceptable) and red (not recommended), showing the best areas to spend time when temperatures rise.

The map was developed by City Clim, a project supported by the European Commission in their Horizon 2020 programme. For more information, visit the City Clim blog.
