The police reports that several motorists had consumed too much alcohol before getting behind the wheel this weekend.
Shortly after 7pm, a car and a motorcycle collided on the A4 motorway near Pontpierre, slightly injuring the motorcyclist and damaging both vehicles. The motorcyclist tested positive to excessive alcohol, and his driving licence had to be withdrawn as a result.
A police patrol noticed a suspicious motorist driving on Route d'Arlon in Capellen and stopped the car shortly after midnight. The driver tested positive for alcohol and was issued with a driving ban.
At around 1.30am, another car accident was reported on the CR324 near Hosingen. The driver was not injured, but the car suffered extensive material damage. The alcohol test was positive and the driver's licence had to be withdrawn.
Shortly before 3am, the police were informed of a car zigzagging from Lasauvage towards Differdange and were able to intercept it in Differdange. As suspected, the driver tested positive for alcohol and was issued with a driving ban, while the matter was recorded in the official report.
At around 3.30am, a motorist was involved in an accident on the CR151 between Mondorf and Wellenstein. According to the police report, he lost control of his car at the crossroads towards Wellenstein, where he slid off the road, hit a tree and was thrown against a public bench. The car was fully destroyed but the driver minimally injured. He tested positive for alcohol and his driving licence was withdrawn on the spot.
At around 5am, a police patrol stopped a motorist on the A1 motorway near Potaschberg due to his suspicious driving behaviour. The blood alcohol test was positive, resulting in the motorist being issued an official report. As his blood alcohol levels were below 1.2‰, his license was not revoked.
