Dr Serge Allegrezza, the longtime director of Luxembourg's National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies (STATEC), is set to retire on his 65th birthday, marking the end of a 21-year tenure and a pivotal year of transformation for the Institute.
Dr Serge Allegrezza, director of the National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies (STATEC) since 2003, has announced his retirement and will officially step down on 26 October. Allegrezza's pension requests were granted by Grand Ducal decree on 20 June.
Aside from running the STATEC for the past 21 years, Allegrezza is also the chairman of the directors' board of POST Group and LuxTrust. The man who usually wears a distinctive bow tie further sits on the boards of the Luxembourg Science Center and Elysis, and is the managing director of the Observatory for Competitiveness.
Before joining the STATEC, the doctor of applied economics had worked at the Ministry of the Economy and prior to that as a researcher at CEPS/Instead, the predecessor of the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER).
Allegrezza will turn 65 on the day of his retirement. This year marks a period of significant changes for the Institute, as its 200 employees are set to undertake a major move from Kirchberg to Belval.
