Luxembourg's Philharmonie is poised to receive an extension in the same style of the original building, designed by architect Christian de Portzamparc.

The extension, which will be added to the Place de l'Europe, will have several functions, including a separate entrance, a new restaurant, and a multipurpose room designed for receptions, or children's activities. It will also boast staff-only areas that will be inaccessible to the public, such as a new cafeteria for employees.

The Philharmonie attracts thousands of visitors every year, holding around 500 concerts and events annually. It will therefore be a challenge to organise the building work so as not to disturb the planned events.

Construction is due to start in September and the budget is set at 12.6 million euros. The extension is planned to be completed in early 2027.
