A yellow alert has been issued for Luxembourg on Tuesday, warning of potential thunderstorms and wind gusts of up to 75 km/h amid a slight risk of tornadoes, according to meteorologist Jörg Kachelmann.
A yellow alert has been issued by Meteolux for Tuesday 18 June, from the second part of the morning until the end of the evening. Luxembourg's weather service predicts a variably cloudy day with moderate to heavy rain showers and possible thunderstorms, including gusts of wind of between 65 and 75 km/h.
Speaking to RTL on Tuesday morning, meteorologist Jörg Kachelmann explained that the current conditions might even lead to a tornado forming. This is not certain however, and some of the rapid thunderstorms of the day might also pass by the Grand Duchy, said Kachelmann. The expert further advised people to stay vigilant and seek out shelter in a basement or a central room in the building should they spot or be alerted to an actual tornado.
While chances are low, according to Kachelmann, the risk is highest between 12pm and 3pm.
Temperatures on Tuesday are meanwhile set to reach up 26°C.
