A serious accident occurred around 11.40am on Thursday between Grundhof and Bollendorf-Pont on the N10, near the Dillingen exit. The police have issued an appeal for witnesses.
Preliminary information provided by the police on Thursday afternoon suggests that the accident resulted from a "failed overtaking manoeuvre." It appears that both a motorcyclist and a car attempted to overtake another vehicle when the motorcyclist lost control and collided with a car. Due to the severity of the injuries sustained, the Emergency Medical Assistance Service (SAMU) and Air Rescue were called to the scene to provide aid and transport the injured individual to the hospital.
Authorities are particularly interested in locating the driver of a third car, which was being overtaken by both the motorcyclist and the car involved in the accident. Any other witnesses or individuals with pertinent information are asked to contact the Echternach police at 244 72 1000 or via email at police.ECHTERNACH@police.etat.lu.
The road has been closed to traffic as forensic units investigate the cause of the accident. Authorities expect the road to reopen later this afternoon.
