The national Regulatory Institute issued a statement on Monday in response to increasing numbers of social media adverts claiming to sell lost or undelivered parcels.

The posts, which usually offer bundles of lost parcels for low prices, are considered to be fraudulent by the ILR.

The ILR wrote that any package that could not be delivered to the intended recipient, nor returned to the sender, must be brought to the Regulatory Institute. The ILR alone should decide what happens to the package.

The ILR said it had contacted a company which recently organised a sale of lost parcels, which confirmed it had not sold any parcels coming from Luxembourg.
