From this Friday, Luxembourg's tram will be travelling along the newly-constructed section to Cloche d'Or and the national stadium.
As the tram is entering a new test phase, initial trials will be rather slow. At a speed of between 3 and 5 kilometres per hour, the empty tram will depart from Lycée Bouneweg to ensure that there are no obstacles on the new section as far as the stadium.
The new section includes the Howald interchange, which is eagerly awaited by passengers, as well as the Lycée Vauban stop on the corner of the Cloche d'Or shopping centre. The tram then heads onwards to the stadium, which serves as its final stop.
The test phase will be inaugurated by Transport Minister Yuriko Backes, Luxembourg City Mayor Lydie Polfer and Marc Lies, Mayor of Hesperange. The official launch of the Lycée Bonnevoie - Stadium section is scheduled for this summer.
