In view of the high tensions in the Middle East, particularly between Israel, Lebanon and Iran, and the risk of military escalation, the Luxembourg government strongly advises its citizens not to travel to the region.

Luxembourg nationals currently in the region are urged to exercise the utmost vigilance and to keep themselves regularly informed of the situation, the Luxembourg government announced in a press release on Saturday evening.

"It is essential to stay away from all gatherings and to limit travel within the country, particularly to Iran, where European nationals have regularly been arrested in the past and sentenced to heavy prison terms", it added.

The government also reiterates its travel advice of 8 October, in which it advises against all travel to Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

"We recommend that all Luxembourg nationals who have not yet registered their presence on the LamA - Lëtzebuerger am Ausland - platform should do so and also report their presence in Iran to the Consular Assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: assistance.consulaire@mae.etat.lu" it adds.
